I was taking Wellbutrin XL 300 (once a day) and after a couple years it didn't seem to be effective. The psychiatrist I selected to manage medication suggests upping the Wellburtin a bit, to 450mg a day -- or switching and trying Cymbalta.

Has anyone taken both -- could you explain which you liked better and why?

I'm 31 years old, currently in college working to become a registered nurse. Either the worsening depression, OR going off the Wellbutrin seems to have affected my memory/learning.

I've taken several anti-depressants. Wellbuterin only worked for a few months for me. Cymbalta is GREAT! I've been on it for over 2 years now and have had really good results - even though I've had several major stressors (I was diagnosed with cancer last year). It is well worth trying!

I tried Paxil, Lexapro and then Cymbalta. Cymbalta has worked the best so far. For some reason my doctor did not think Wellbutrin would work for me. I don't know if it was because it is similar to Paxil or exactly why he didn't think it would work. He said that AFTER I tried the Paxil and the Lexapro.

Lexapro did not work at all. Paxil didn't do all that much, but it was better than nothing.

Wellbutrin did not help or work for me, Nothing felt.
Good ole Prozac was the winner and 50mg daily with other meds keeps me centered and on the up and up.

I was on Wellbutrin a few years back...and I didn't like it at all. I became mean when I was on it...although, I would forget about smoking when I was on it, I didn't like myself being so cold and mean hearted. I switched to Zoloft, and that worked really good.
