All dogs go through a shed in the spring. They grow "extra" fur in the fall and winter months to help keep them warmer. If you start seeing bald patches or excessive dry skin flaking, it is more than a shed and you need to get her to a vet. Is she scratching a lot, or is it just fur loss?
If this continues and you think she is losing more hair than normal, consult your vet.

I've got a chihuahua pup myself, and it seems that you are describing a flea induced allergic dermatitis. Small breeds are really allergic to fleas and in turn lose all their fur near the butt area(where the fleas hang out). Get her to the vet, and he will prescribe an anti-flea medication, and lotion to keep her from scratching. You might also want to get her on better food to improve her immune system (I feed mine a combo of Beneful and ProPlan). Make sure her bedding is 100% cotton and not anything synthetic. And give her a bath only when she's super stinky , to preserve the natural hair oils.

All dogs go through this. It's called shedding. Dog's may shed hair for lots of reasons. It could be poor nuitrition, the weather, etc. Try feeding your dog with foods packed with lots of nuitrients and protein. You can also find treatments for your dogs shedding hair at Petland Discounts.

A dull coat that is displaying excessive shedding is not normal shedding. These may be signs of a more severe underlying health problem. Please take your puppy in to the veterinarian as soon as possible for a physical examination complete with a fecal exam! Your dog's health may depend on this!

it could be a number of things... u need to see the vet. for example it could be mange (a horrible skin disease dogs can catch), poor diet, fleas, washing her too much, using human soap not dog shampoo, allergies, just shedding, or just dry skin. all of these your vet can help u treat and figure out just what is causing this.

It could just be that she is losing hair cause because we are getting warmer weather and she doesn't need as much since winter is over.
