limewire still allows you to download any file that the gnutella network offers ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gnutella ). It may be safer, if it has a virus scanner on it, but the safest option is to download from reputable sites, which means paying, usually.
also, use a virus scanner
i use: http://us.mcafee.com/root/downloads.asp?id=freeTrials
keep it updated
use a spyware scanner
i use spybot search&destroy: http://www.spybot.info/
keep it updated
never download email attachments
never give out personal info over the net

Do you not have antivirus protection in your pc? Start off with that. I have not noticed viruses on limewire free version and I have been using it for 3 years.
And my antivirus prog is one of those freebies

I in lots of cases use Limewire, yet as quickly as you're searching for something else, Spiral Frog is the two unfastened AND criminal. the alternative isn't as stable as limewire, although that's certainly stable. that's continuously in straightforward words the imprecise stuff i will't come across.

I find I pick up more virii and crap from Limewire than anywhere else. It's a three step operation....download....run antivirus....listen to the music.

Nope. When you pay for Limewire you're still not paying for the content. It's still illegal to share and download the music and software etc, so you're still vulnerable to viruses, not to mention criminal charges or a lawsuit.

http://www.limewire.com/ Download the official from there and you will probably only get a few adware (only a small amount easily removed)
And the chances of getting a lawasuit is 1 in 2 million.

no. I have bought the full version and its a little more faster and more little more results. you should scan all download with an internet security software like anti-virus or others. if you scan and it says its okay, well then the file shall be safe.

that doesn't make sense. when you use limwire you have to download it! just buy music the legal way and use itunes! have you not heard of the thousands of lawsuits the RIAA is giving out?!
