Many families practice their religion/spirituality in the home. In the LDS, for example, each Monday evening is devoted to family activities centered on prayer and contemplation. In this sense, a 'normal' family could seem to be supportive or each other, sharing in each other's spiritual growth, etc. For those of us who grew up in hells called :family' what are some qualities of a normal healthy family?

The LDS devotion to connecting as a family is to be admired and not really normal for modern America. Every night is family night in my house but my kids are still little. When I was younger, my family had its moments (and still does) but it was pretty normal. We didn't really interfere in each other's exploration of spirituality because we couldn't agree and we just kind of agreed to disagree. We did support each other in other ways and defended each other's right to self-exploration. Normal healthy families support and care for each other and have healthy limits and support differences too. Normal families fight and argue but find a way to live together anyway.

Your family is as you define it and there is a wide range of "normal."

As long as there is no abuse happening within the household, everyone is fed and cared for, normal is what you make of it and your family is who you say it is.
