If you agree, would you say something nice about people who don't believe the same way you do?

And let me add my two cents here. I appreciate all well-thought out answers that are respectful of the other people's beliefs. A lot of atheists are highly logical and prize intellectualism. Most Buddists are peaceful, and I love Muslims, especially those live by the pillars of Islam; I respect Wiccans who care for our environment, and for the agnostics - I commend your desire to search for the truth. For those of other faiths, I wish you well. To my fellow saints in Jesus Christ - may the peace of Christ which passes all understanding be yours in Christ Jesus.

I love those questions where information is shared, without insult or sarcasm. Questions about one another's faith, the technical details of how they live their lives - one thumbnail image at a time - I find these excellent.

I find some of the Muslimah on this forum to be beautiful within and intelligent as well ... I feel a lot better about their faith than I did before, having read their answers.

I find it extremely irritating when someone asks an honest question (particularly about witches and wiccans) and people who have no idea about what is asked have to chime in and condemn others for their beliefs. Most questions don't do that but the answerer's certainly do!
Even tho I am not a Christian I will answer in a positive manner if I feel I can contribute something. But when answering a question about something I am familiar with I have no problem letting loose on the people who have responded in a condescending manner.

I agree with you that people are foolish to tear down other religions. First off if you really want to help them being rude will only cause others to get defensive and not listen. I think the people on here who are tearing down other peoples religions do it for two reasons
# 1 they feel attacked and defensive so they attack back but this rarly achieves what they want.
#2 they are truely not religious at all and are only here to stir up trouble.

I believe that all religions start out with good intentions to serve God but we are human and Pride often gets in our way. And we feel we must prove we are right. As I tell my kids "sometimes it is enough, Just to know your are right" You don't need to prove it to everyone or anyone for that matter. Just because someone does not agree with you does not make your faith any less valid. Only God will decide in the end.

I would prefer that, but alas, it probably isn't going to happen.

Between the Religion category and the Politics category, there are maybe...maybe 10% who really seek mature, intelligent dialogue.

The rest are a bizarre mixture of miscreants, thugs, people in some sort of psychological pain, and just plain evil mo-fo's.

I don't force me beliefs - such as they are - on any man. I just expect people to act like adults and conduct themselves accordingly.

It's just so tempting for some mental midgets to sit in the safety behind their computer screen and fling dung like monkeys, instead of using a little bit of courtesy and particpating in a civil discussion.

I say, "Respect others' beliefs." There are many people I like, yet I don't agree fully with their religious beliefs. I'm not going to judge or insult their religion, because we all the right to our own followings. Friendships are far more valuable than (dis)agreements of religious backgrounds. What works for one is fine by me!

I couldn't care less if a question tears into a religion. Religions are big, powerful, rich organizations that aren't going to suffer much by someone questioning them. If you or anyone else wants to get all hurt on their behalf I'd ask you to wonder whether or not these big bullies you stick up for would show you the least appreciation for your concern. Fact is, they depend on people getting upset about things like that to maintain their hold over people. In truth, it's about as relevant as hearing someone get upset because someone else insulted their favourite pop group.

I say plenty of nice things about *individuals* who do not believe as I do, but not necessarily their faith in general.

I don't mind seeing questions that "tear down other people's religions"; true, there are nice ways and rude ways of phrasing questions, but the premise is to start and interchange of ideas. Being to the point and blunt, even rude, can sometimes get the ball rolling more effectively.

I find it more distasteful when individual people are singled out and attacked.

I like people not necessarily their beliefs. If they ask, I'll give them an answer. If they don't like the answer they don't have to accept it. I won't argue. Everyone has the right to express their own opinion and I don't mind a bit. The only questions that bother me are the ones that are asked with obvious hatred and disrespect.

Works for me. I admire the peace of the Buddhists, the passion of Islamic believers for their faith, and the love of logic and reason that most atheists have.

It's nicer when people can ask questions and debate in a civilized way instead of resorting to all of the name calling and childish behavior. I've seen some pretty Christian women as well as Pretty Muslim women as well as some pretty Hindu women as well lol. I've seen some pretty women of all religions.
