My wife's uncle motivates me; GREATLY!
All his life he was a pharmaceutical sales rep. And like all such sales reps, he was VERY SKINNY. We have been married for 30 years, I have known him for 33 years (we dated 3 years before we got married...)
Over the years I watched him get skinnier, and skinnier, and skinnier. Now he is 67 - and a physical WRECK. Frighteningly. It is called sarcopenia. Shrinking of the muscles. He cannot even walk any more.
Watching him wither away, and reaching age 35 myself, I started doing weightlifting. Once a week, that is all the time I had to do it. Badly, of course, because I did not know what I was doing...
Now I am 54 and I am bigger, stronger, and healthier than most people on this PLANET!! I do aerobics and stretching every day (I do the exercises in 5-15 minute intervals working around my job schedule, ie.. brakes, lunch, etc.) and on Sunday I do 2 hours of weightlifting.
EVERYONE around me is getting older, and weaker. It is NOT pretty!!
PS My best friend is 87 years old and he is a bodybuilder. Absolutely amazing fit man.
My motivation is; do what works, and what takes little time to do.
Any questions, write to me.

How to get motivated -
Think of how much better you'll feel about life and yourself.
Exercise with a buddy - anyone. You can motivate each other, as well as having company (its your special time togethher).
Do something you enjoy, anything! (Dancing, swimming, biking, walking (shopping even), yoga/pilates, bowling, tennis, volleyball, weight lifting, the list is endless).
How to stay motivated-
Reward yourself - once you have an exercise program figured out (what you want to do, what days you want to do them and for how long), stick to it. If you are new to exercising, a weekly (small) reward would be best. If you follow your schedule, give yourself a small treat that you will ONLY get if you complete it (a favorite dessert, rent a movie, whatever).
If you think you could go a little longer without a reward (some people can get motivated for a month or two, then fail) - reward yourself every month with a little bigger reward (favorite restuarant, girls/guys night, night away from the kids, a *insert money limit* shopping spree)
I dont suggest both a weekly and a monthly, but if you want that bigger reward, maybe week 1 and 2 smal reward, week 3 no reward and week 4 a bigger reward.

When you get tired enough of being over weight you'll get off the couch and do something about it. I'm working with alot of people right now at our club that are feeling that way, but they had to get tired of it first. They want their clothes to fit and they want to feel better and have more energy, and exercise sure does that!

why dont you try getting a work-out partner who will keep you motivated. maybe a friend or relative who would like a bit more exercise. when you have a partner its easier to get going and off the couch

My boss threatened me with charging me more for my health insurance, been working out for 5 weeks straight today.
Find someone who will be raring to go on the days when you aren't, and workout with that person.
I also found out my wife was preggers and I want to be able to teach my child better habits then i had.
