Each language treats its consonants and vowels just a little differently from each other. Some differentiate between various forms of one general consonant. For example, "k" can become a hard k "kh" or fused with a y "kk" (pronounced kyuh), etc. The way the lips and tongue are moved to produce these sounds may differ too. Hence, when it comes to learning English, with its lack of variation in consonants and vowels (compared to other languages), you get a myriad ways to pronounce a given word or words.

Voice accents come from what one's used to hearing, yet I'm the only one in my family who has a deep south accent. In my head, I don't hear any accent, but when recorded, I sure hear it. Where it came from, I have no clue.
Interesting question; thanks for asking. Now you've got me wondering as well.
