I have an 11 yr old girl who wrote in her profile that she is funsized. She doent think it means anything bad. Please give me some input on how to explain to her this is a term an 11yr old should not be using and what it means

I'm not sure if it really is a bad term. 'Funsize' is a marketing term used to describe the small size of chocolates/sweets, such as small Mars Bars. People often refer to themselves as being 'not small, but funsize'. I presume that means, don't discount me because I'm small, but think of me more about being fun. I guess that could be misinterpreted by people who think about it being more promiscuous. My 13 year old daughter had a page about herself on one of these sites with her photo, and I told her to delete it. She did. I explained to her why we were concerned. I related it to putting a sign on the letter box with a photo of herself and the description. I guess its fun for her friends, but I think she should be aware of the fact that there are some people out there who think differently.
So, in her mind, it is probably just some fun. But as she is so young, she is unaware of the bigger picture.

I must not get it either. When I saw funsized, I thought of the little funsized candy bars at Halloween...lol..lol. When I read your question, I thought small stature, petite. I didn't think anything negative or adult. I must be old..lol. I'm mom to 3.

There are blinkies around the internet that say things like, "I'm not short, I'm FUN SIZED!" I think that's where this 11 year old girl got it from. I doubt that she meant it to be inappropriate in any way, but I guess I can see how it can be construed that way (pedophilia.) I would just leave it alone if you don't know this girl. If it's your daughter, perhaps you can talk to her about your concerns regarding the phrase and explain to her, in a non-threatening way, how it can be construed sexually.

people use the term funsized with small things, but lately (especially with profiles/myspeace/etc.) girls have been saying that in a sexual and promiscuous way, which guys then misinterperet
