SOHO is for the most part, not an immigrant neighborhood. Just south of SOHO is Chinatown (beginning at Canal Street). That's an ethnic neigborhood and the ethnicity is self explanatory.

The neighborhood name means "SOuth of HOuston" street. North of Houston is Greenwich Village, which is also not very ethnic.

SOHO has lots of trendy shops, restaurants, bars, a few hotels and a bunch of art galleries. The buildings are mostly under 6 stories and the neighborhood is small in area.

Of the small number of people that actually live there, it is a cross section of people who can afford the rent. Many of the residents are owners of the businesses in the neighborhood.
