how many calories should i get? can i do the 2000 calorie diet that way i can steadily lose weight that way? i try to count calories by using calorie king.com and work out almost everyday. i want to get down to 187 to start and then from there i will try to go down but this is my first goal. so i guess my question is how many calories can i do safely?

That's great! Congratulations! 1-2 pounds a week is the safest way. Keep it up.

I think you could go down to about 1700 or 1800 calories a day, but if this is working for you, stick with it! Never go below 1200 though.

I was 250 and my doctor advised to lose 10 per month, that way my body had time to adjust to the loss and not try to get it back.

Be carefull with the excercise, so you don't harden your body fat instead of burning it, do cardio at first (walking, etc) and then laaater you do weights.

It worked for me, I lost the 100 pounds I needed and have kept it that way ever since. It did take me a longer time doing it 10 pounds per month, but hey! I was the only one waiting for me! I didn't let anybody pressure me.

Ah, by the way: the first pounds are retained fluids in your body, that's why you lose them fast. When you drink a lot of fluids your body doesnt see the need to store it.

well my mom weighs about the same as you and she is on a 1400 calorie diet. Maybe you should try going to a dietitian, that is what my mom did. Just wanna let you know to keep up the good work.Also yes it is good that you have lost that much in 3 or 4 weeks.

moderate moderate moderate exercise.
its about the rest of your life not the swimsuit season.
thats one for the poo heads
261 to 187 is huge. how about 230? imagine the xtra ease and energy you will have.

1000 calories is ok if you are as big as you say you are.
Your body has a great mass to loose and you will not do anything detrimental to your self by doing 1000 a day.

That is probably fine because that is two pounds a week, though at your weight you should consult a doctor before dieting.

I good rule of thumb is a pound a week will be healthy loss!
