I don't see why you'd lose a house over bad credit, I mean you should only lose it if you can't make payments. In that case look into getting a new mortgage especially if your old one is about to expire(which I think is every 5 years you need to get a new one).
Uhm that aside, consider getting a good cosigner, like your parents if possible, then you should be able to get credit approved at a fair rate.
