Well, I think it has a lot to do with your "Book of Mormon." Also, if I remember correctly, you do not believe in the Deity of Jesus Christ. The polygamy could also be seen as anti Christian as that was a bad practice of the Jews and no reference in the New Testament.

But, evil? that is a tough one. You have great family values other than the polygamy. However, if you deny Christ as the Son of God and has the power to redeem a sinner you are misleading people from salvation and are worse than the demons with horns. But, pleasing to look at and very convincing as Satan himself.

I know this sounds like an attack but you asked and I answered as best I could for you. Feel free to email me if you wish to discuss it more, but I will tell you straight up keep all references to the Bible and not the Book of Mormon as I do not believe it is an inspired book of God and nothing will make me change my mind (pig headed but true). This is not because the ending of Revelation, but the fact that it does not complement the other books rather it is in contradiction.

John Brown was a practicing polygamist and had around eight wives. I know the practice has stopped mainstream, but still alive and well in branches or gone to ground.

in short, specific. The word "present day Mormon polygamist" is a misnomer. Mormons do not prepare polygamy. Even in cultures the place polygamy is appropriate (some Muslim countries, as an occasion), Mormons in no way have greater suitable than one spouse. Any member got here across to have greater suitable than one spouse is excommunicated. Mormons have self assurance polygamy is barely suitable on very uncommon events whilst God authorizes it (i.e. Abraham, Issac, Jacob, etc.). otherwise, monogamy is the rule. (that's the message of Jacob 2:27-30 interior the e book of Mormon.) because of the fact God commanded Mormons to provide up training polygamy in 1890, Mormons have self assurance that present day-day polygamists are appearing opposite to God's will. it is not that Mormons secretly choose to coach polygamy yet that the regulation/social norms/societal tension ward off them. Mormons in actual fact are actually not interested in training polygamy, because of the fact God has suggested this is not approved. those that prepare polygamy in Utah and Arizona are actually not Mormons. They belong to chop up religions (frequently FLDS).

You are no more evil than most religions. My only objection to mormonism would be if I lived in Utah. As I understand it (and I may be wrong) many of Utah's laws enact mormon ethical beliefs.

Other than that, you can believe any ridiculous story you want. It works for the other christian cults.

Don't let them make you feel bad. I have seen the same thing said here by baptists about catholics. And muslims really bring out the devil in some christians.

I went to school with a hand full of mormons. The main problem is that you guys kind of made up your own religion in the early 1800s. It is about as weird as Catholacism but in an American way. This is just my opinion so take no offense. I am very happy that we were kind of non denominational Christian. Too much hoopla and hocus pocus in most religion.

I do not think Mormons are evil. I do think that there are many members of religious groups like the Mormons, who have staked their eternal souls on their beliefs without searching the scriptures, reviewing the doctrinal writings of church leaders, studying hermeneutics, philosophy, logic, and theology to satisfy themselves that what they have been told is sufficiently rational and worth believing.

After many years of careful study, I have found non-Christian religions, such as Mormonism, to be philosophically indefensible, being internally incoherent or undermining human reason and experience.

The LDS people are not evil. Having been LDS I know the doctrine, and it does not go hand in hand with the Bible. I haven't ran across anyone who says that the LDS people are evil ,it's their doctrine Christians and others have a problem with.

I don't think they're evil. I haven't heard that from anyone. That being said, anyone who is to any degree religious can expect a certain amount of ignorance pointed in their general direction. It's just human nature for some people to despise what they don't understand or have been taught to hate.

You follow false doctrine. The Book of Mormon uses the name of Jesus Christ to distract believers from putting their faith into The Holy Bible, the true word of God.

We are warned in The Bible that there will be false teachers; that they will claim to follow the Heavenly Father's will, but they do not. I'm sorry that you have fallen victim to deception by the adversary, and will be praying for you.

They aren't. They're more annoying than most Christians. They harass people in their homes, and follow them down the street. Don't believe me? I guess you don't know what goes on during a mission then because I've had that people follow me down the streets three times, this year alone, preaching (even after I lied and said I'm Catholic).

And then there's the "woman have their place and its in the home" thing.

And more.

At least the Methodists and Catholics, etc, don't knock on my door. Though they're annoying in other ways.
