Fitness isn't about doing one repetetive thing. It just doesn't work plus it's boring. It'll take forever to lose 1 lb of fat running up and down stairs.

Instead go for a jog, far more efficient, plus it'll keep your metabolism up through the day.

i go on the stair master for 1 hour everyday for a week, and that's how long it gets me to loose one pound

so i say, A LOT of steps

one pound is nothing. you can take a doodoo and lose 1 pound.
