Lets use logic here.

Your house is insulated =
1) all heat made inside the house stays inside
2) all coldness from the outside stays outside.

Makes sense. Great for the winter/fall seasons!

Your house is insulated =
1) all the coolness from the air conditioner stays inside
2) all the heat from the sun stays outside

Makes sense. Great for the sweltering hot summer days!

The best thing a house can be is insulated. And windows that keep insulation (double paned) are great in helping keep energy costs down

Think of it this way; you turn your heat on A LOT less since your house stays hotter longer due to the insulation = less oil/gas bill.

You turn your Air Conditioner on A LOT less since your house stays cooler longer due to the insulation = less electricity bill!!

In the end insulation is your buddy!

This depends on alot..how are your windows? Do we assume an air conditioner is in the picture? It's not really a logical assumption. It's true insulation works both ways..but some houses are faced so that they can recieve lots of light. This light becomes heat when it strikes surfaces in the home and is re radiated as longwave energy..and it can't get out as easily because of insulation. Normal insulation procedures are different in different climates depending on whether heating or cooling is the primary expense. You can see this in folk housing styles..the southern "dog-trot" has an open breeze way, while many northern styles are centered around the fireplace and very compact to conserve heat.

It would be more comfortable because the insulation keeps the cold air in the summer and the hot air in in the winter. It prevents entropy, so less heat leaks one way or the other. The energy always wants to flow where there is less energy and equal out. That's why when you leave a glass of ice water sitting, it'll melt and become room temperature.

It wouldn't be uncomfortable. The insulation keeps the cool air in and the hot air out. Just like a thermos keeps hot drinks hot and cold drinks cold.
