Wet a washcloth in water that is as hot as you can stand. Put the cloth on the area. When it cools, rewarm with hot water. Keep doing this - it may take a long time. This should bring the pus up and help the boil to burst. Take tylenol or motrin for pain. When the boil bursts, flush the area with peroxide or hot soapy water. Then apply a clean bandage.

In addition to the suggestions from XeXes, if you really think you were bitten by something, go to the drug store and get some Benadryl (oral antihistamine) and try that. Also the Pharmacists are a wealth of information, use them! Of course if the pain gets worse or further hinders your walking, go to the ER, they will just have to bill you! Good Luck!

Yes, of course you can have a boil under the skin. It is more likely that you have a sebaceous cyst, although frequently these do not hurt. These are a waxy hair follicle (sebaceous) that get plugged and backs up inside. I had one on my neck and it didn't bother me until, as a substitute teacher, some students referred to the bolt in the neck of Frankenstein's monster. On your leg, it would get abraded more.
