Ask mom what she does.

In my house, my two yr old ges a story and a little snuggle. My 4 yr old gets a story. I turn on music for both of them (my son is particular about Bach...he really likes that.) We say prayers. And since they both still wet the bed at night they wear diapers to bed. They might like a bath, and if you are up to it, it does help my kids settle down.

But ask their mom what she does. Their routine is going to be particular to them.

With the 2 year old, I would suggest that you put on a move for him in the living room with a bottle and a blanket and make him lay down, when he falls asleep than you take him to his bed.
With the 5 year old, I would do the same thing but with out the bottle, just leave him on the couch if he is too heavy to carry to bed.

Make the movie a chick flick or something that a child would find boring... nothing scary or a kid movie...

When I was babysitting a 6 year old, he would always get up when I was putting his brothers to bed and nag for me to read him more stories.

So after I'd read him one story, I'd say "I'm just going to get you brothers ready and I'll be back. Count to 100, and if I'm not back by the time you've finished, you can come and get me".

I babysat every two weeks for about a year, and he only got up once - every other time, he'd fallen asleep!

do quiet time for 1/2 hour before, including reading, bath if you are allowed, quiet talking etc. ask the mom (if you have a chance) about what the regular routine is. If they normally say prayers let them lead them and just be very mellow for a while before bed.... I always let them stay up and play a little later than what the parent said. GL!!

i babysit a 3 year old and a 5 year old i pop in a movie at first and let them fall asleep but around dinner time tell them they need to go to bed soon and if they scream and shout tell them that if their naughty that you will tell their parents or they wont get their special treat after dinner but i guess it depends on the parents and kids so if you told me how they are it would be easier for me to tell you what to do

all kids are different. i would talk to their mother and just ask if there are any favorites or any special routines before bed. some kids like to be read a book, some like to be sung to, there are many different ways. ask the mother if there are any special things she does for them before bed or anything the kids are attached to in order to fall asleep.

be firm but loving. read them a story or bathe them before and when its time to go to bed just be firm that they have to stay in bed, also ask their parents what their routine is like so its easier for the children

before you do any of this have them get there pajamas on if hey think there going to bed say, "im having you put these on becuase you will be more comfortable".

dont tell them there going to bed.
ok ask them if they have a favorite book.
say, "lets go read this in your bedroom.
cause i like your bedroom a lot!!"
then have them go in there beds.
read the book.
once your done
they should be tired enough to want to go to bed.

hope this helped?

Do not get them to hyper before bed and make sure they will not cry.
