I live in a tropical climate as well..Heres what I do. You can buy "sleeper" curlers(they are by conair), and after you shower put a nice curl cream(not a sticky gelor mouse since you have thin hair, as do I) and roll you hair in them. Spray really really well with an aerosol hair spray that is for curling and is "strong hold" Then blow dry your hair in the curlers to "set the curls" this is essential..but not to where the curls are totally dry...leave them damp. They are very comfortable to sleep in:)..After you wake up uncurl them..and @ first the curls will be tight but they will loosen..Spray them again very well..and pull them..just a bit. Let them fall. I guarantee that you will get soo many compliments on your hair!...And it will look soo great..if you have a few looses strands just curl them with a curling iron and spray it well, and even if it falls it will still not be pin straight and wont stick out. Ive done my hair like this since i started high school, and I love it!..Good luck:)

I have had straight, very fine hair all my life. The few times I've had a perm, I've always regretted it, so don't do that. Your hair will break and you'll wind up with a frizzy mess. What I do now when I want my hair to curl, is I sacrifice softness for curl, by using products, like gel setter. I also have learned to use the best tools, I have a T3 Tourmaline infrared and ionic dryer, and i start by blowing out with a round brush. Then, I use a T3 curling iron on the smallest barrel, and I curl my hair in very small sections. It takes a while, but by the end, I wind up with big, bouncy curls (even with a 3/4 barrel). I don't recommend hair spray, because the sheer weight and wetness of the spray make me lose curl, so I don't bother.

Use a styling spray and spray your hair- then set it in hot rollers until they cool. Or curl it with a curling iron, but slide the curls off the iron without opening it and pin them with a bobby pin to your head until they cool. Spray the whole thing down with finishing spray and you should be good. Also use shampoo/conditioner for curly hair.

Try using styling spritz or gel available in your local pharmacy/beauty supply store. Spray each section of hair with the spray/gel then curl section as usual. Curls will last longer.

Well u could always put mousse in it....hold it..or hair spray. The best way to curl it is put it in braids and sleep with it over night..it works for my friend who's hair can't hold curls either!

i do little sections of hair at a time and put them AROUND the curler not closed in the thingie (Forgot wat its called sry)
with every level of hair you curl spray hairspray on every piece of hair u curled
then let down little levels of hair everytime ur finished with a level
continue until finished

If you don't have overly processed hair then spray damp hair with a solution of 1 tsbls of epsoom salt to 1 pint of water. then put on rollers and let air dry or heat dry. It should hold longer and look smooth and shiney.

Go to a professional stylist and get your hair trimmed into layers and get a perm.

a perm is your last hope...just embrace your natural hairstyle. besides, curls will frizz up in a second where you live.
