It's the doctor's responsibility to determine which tests are run. Relax, just make an appointment.

Those two - Diabetes and Thyroid, and stress. If you have a lot of stress that is a good cause. ... also slow metabolism ...
Very rare - tumor, and usually benign.
Don't delay, go to the doctor. I gained weight myself over winter. My doctor told me most people gain weight on winter. Winter is the most stressful time of the year.
If you wanna help yourself with the weight don't eat anything after 7 pm (or at least 4 hours before bed) and downsize your meal portion.
Good luck!

I had a thyroid problem, and it decreased my weight, because it was over active. The same thing can hold true for an under active thyroid, but it will cause you to gain weight, because your metabolism is not at its optimal functioning level.

An under active thyroid can to that, and several other things. A Dr. could help you with the testing, and I don't think it's a very big deal. Peace of mind is worth the cost, not to mention your self image.

Cushing's can cause weight gain too but there are some unmistakeable telltale signs that your doctor will notice. Thyrotoxicosis and diabetes are the two most common likely medical causes.

See a doctor. He or she will know which tests to order. If you're on inhalers for asthma, you'll gain weight. If you're eating more calories than you're burning, you'll gain weight.
Is better to find out than worry about it.

JUST GO TO THE DOCTOR and ask him what he thinks could be that casue.
If you go tothe doctor with a list of suspected conditions he will think that you are sick in your mind and not be too concerned about your body.
