I would say that most of them do not last because of the mentality of high school. People think they are ready for long term relationships when a lot of the time their longest relationship was about a semester long. High school (and even college) is for testing the waters to see what kind of person you do want to spend the rest of your life with.
It is certainly possible to find your soulmate in high school, but that is becoming more and more rare. I am not saying to break up with your long term boyfriend (if you have one), but I am not saying that you can depend on being with him forever either. Keep in mind too that sometimes the boyfriends from high school can come back after college and then you could be with them the rest of your life, so just live life while you can and really get a feel for what you like and dislike in the people that you date that you might consider spending the rest of your life with.

Most don't. I started dating a girl in Dec. of my Senior year. Over 3 years later and we are still together at the same college.
But most don't. Also don't rush marriage in HS or even right away in college. I know a few people who did that and really messed their lives up (ie getting married and pregnant during their first year of college and both dropping out of an elite private school. They live with his parents now).

in high school
mostly not for super-long, though some people get married (very not advisable) in high school.
