They are simply age-spots. My elderly orange tabby has them on her lips and nose. My vet assured me that they are as harmless as freckles.

My cat also has black patches and dots in his mouth. They are just pigmentation - the equivalent of our own "liver spots" as we get old. If the spots ulcerate or grow or bleed, then you need to have a vet look at them of course.

My cat (about 10 months old) has a patch inside her mouth too, but as far as I can remember it has always been there. My cat is one of those...striped ones with the while paws and neck... i hope this has helped!

I don't know about cats, but when dogs get old they get black patches in their mouth, its just something that happens with old age. so maybe this is why your cat is getting black patches

It just sounds like a difference in pigment. Just like dogs' and cats' fur changes pigment[in fact, my collie's patches of color have migrated several times]. If you haven't noticed it before, it's probably just that reason.

If he always had them, just natural marks. If he had them for a long time and slowly growing, most likely nothing serious. If they are showing up just now, and developing quickly I'd suggest you to take him to the vet asap as it can be some sort of cancer (ie. melanoma)

Well my Calico cat has some black dots to but the vet said that they are just her colorings. I dont think that it is serious.

Maybe he's always had them. Or else they just grew. I get moles that just pop up all of the time, the same thing probably happens to animals
