hair problem(on my head)?

im a guy with kinda long (bottom of nose and ears hair) and i love it except one problem. its like the hair farther away from my hairline is shorter than the hair right on the edge and the hair right on the edge is so thin and flimsy its like curly and it makes the rest of my straight hair look like ****. it kinda looks like baby hair under my hair and when it gets wet, hot, cold, or staticy, it looks really curly. ive tried geling it out and straightening but it doesnt work. i dont have a straightener but i used my friends. its on both sides and it does it when it gets too long in the back too. its only on the very edges. help???
