Let's clarify this:
theism, NOT atheism is the mental disorder.
a new-born child has no reason (=purpose) to turn to theism.
Atheism < privative a + theism.
so: atheism = not theism.
Usually, the child gets infected with theism, and the -occasionally- successful recovery is considered to make an atheist.
Theists have promoted the view that they are the rule, and atheists the exception.
Theists are really good at transmitting their disorder to children. Not because the disorder is beneficial. Because children can not perceive one's intention to damage their mind and thinking.
Most infected people (theists) can not recover and die with the disorder. The same people people disagree with atheism because they can not achieve it, and stick with their disordered, crippled mind.
And this hurts.
So, calling a not-yet-infected baby an atheist (I really can't see why should this word exist) is 100% correct.

An atheist is some one that denies the existence of God. Children have made no such choice. If anything they are simply with out knowledge.
To say they are born Atheist is factually wrong. They can not be agnostic either. That would be like saying all babies are born quadriplegic. They aren't , they can not stand or control their movement well but they are not quadriplegic.

Babies are born "without belief in the existence of gods", so they are technically implicit atheists. If people don't like it, tough noogies.
I know a lot of people will say "no, agnostic!" but that's not accurate. Agnosticism is the position that either the individual agnostic or humanity in general doesn't now and/or never will possess definitive knowledge as to the existence or nonexistence of god(s).

Babies are born with nothing. They are taught religion. Religion and religious thoughts aren't natural. Babies see what they see and hear what they hear. If a child is born in the wild, being raised by wolves. All they would know is wolf society.
Society teaches babies religion. Babies are born pure and innocent of the corruption of all religion.

the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of God be upon him) said:
"Every child is born upon a state of fitrah(meaning natural disposition to worship God) and then his parents may make him Jew or christian or a polytheist."
This is the reality, it is in people's innate self to worship God, although they may not have complete knowledge of the 'details' of God's attributes; it is still in their nature to submit to Him.
A strong proof for this, although I consider the statement of the prophet as proof in itself, is that there has never been a nation in history that did not have the concept of worship, or the concept of a Higher being.
In fact, African tribes till this day who had never been touched by Islam, Christianity or Judaism believe in an all-Powerful Creator. The mayans also believed in an All-powerful Creator, but worshipped idols with the logic that God is too great to be worshipped directly.
Either way, to accept the concept that people are born as athiests is far from the reality.

Agnostics, by definition. The word means "to not know", and that clearly describes a child before it has received any sort of teaching from its parents or others. Muslims like to claim that babies are born Muslims; this is obviously silly.

Agnostic means without knowledge. It perfectly describes a baby's view of god.
The baby has no knowledge with which to make a decision on the existence or nonexistence of god. That knowledge or misinformation (depending on your point of view) will be gained later.

They are not born for or against anything. They will see God in creation as they grow up, they will learn and make choices.
Babies are not atheists or deists at birth.
