well how long ago did you last see him? if it was just a few hours ago then look around your neighborhood, especially at houses with other dogs. Also go around calling his name and bring some treats. Go to places your dog likes visiting as well. GOOD LUCK!!

Ok did your dog live anywhere else? If so check there. Otherwise get a can of food and go around your neighborhood and shake the food. Remember to saty calm!! Otherwise your dog might be scared to come home. Ask neighbors to please try to make little noise and to try to saty indoors so the dog will not be scared to come out. Im REALLY sorry and i hope you find your beloved pooch! Oh and if you do not find her within a few hours post up signs and email your neighobors! Hope i helped!

Check with the pound and animal control, daily.
Post lost fliers at the local pet stores, vet offices, and bullitien boards around town.
See if any neighbors have seen him.
Put a lost ad in the paper.
Good luck.

Visit all of the dog shelters (public and private) and don't forget to call Animal Control (Call the Office of the Mayor for the phone number of Animal Control), as soon as possible. Take a photo of your dog with you to see if he was turned in at a shelter. Don't forget to check with some of the private dog shelters, or individuals, that "shelter homeless dogs." Place an ad on Craigslist and Petfinder.com (don't forget the photo, if you're allowed to post one.)
Put an ad in your local newspaper, or the local "throw-away" newspaper. Post color photos if you have them. If so, post them in your neighborhood and at the supermarket.
Go to the major Pet stores (PetCo, Petsmart) etc. and ask if you can distribute flyers of the dog in front of their store.
Go to a busy area in your city such as a supermarket (if there is one near where you live) and distribute photos of your dog. I hope he has a "miro-chip," as well as, a secure set of dog tags. Take photos of your dog to the ASPCA/SPCA in your city ask if they will keep their eyes open for your dog.
When your beloved dog returns home take him to the vet for a GPS implant and "chip" if he doesn't have one.

Has your dog been microchipped? If yes, it will be a lot easier to find. If someone finds your dog, and they take it to a vet, then the vet can find all your contact information on the computer, if no, then you just have to find the dog yourself or you can try posting posters to ask for help, or you can find the police for help! Good luck!

Call animal control and let them know, call the SPCA and let them know, put up posters in the area, and call the vets in the area and let them know about your dog and what he looked like etc. He might just show up there having been hit by a car or something. And get out there and start walking and calling his name.

Go to Craigslist.org and post the name of your pet and a picture , millions of people in your city read craigslist on a daily basis somebody might have seen him.
Go to the shelters and look for him, leave a description and a pic in case somebody brings him in.

Firstly, if you take him for walks, go and see those places you go to.
Go around the neighbourhood.....calling his name loud ( like another user suggested).
If he doesnt come back within a few hours......print some signs with his pic or description...and stick it close to your house....shopping malls, vet shops, schools, rail station, wherever lots of people walk by.
Good luck!
I am in Argentina, we have here groups of people that look for pets, with ads in web pages, mailing lists, etc ( I am one of them) we do find many, many pets.....thank goodness it works! see if you can find a group like this..
If in your city you have pounds or shelters make sure to go and visit them.
And when you find him..please dont get mad at him he is probably VERY SCARED ......just greet him lovingly and show him you're happy to see him!
Best of luck!
