would it be cruel to sneak into my neigbours garden at midnight and wake the cockeral with a bell...one it might be tired and not wake up in the mornig or i`ll make it a nervous wreck from sleep depravation

i am unsure by the replies if this is a serious question or not. if it were me i would go ask the neighbor if they could move the bird to a different spot in the house or maybe they could cover the cage at night. i cover my parrots cages at night and they don't get up in til 7:00a.m. and on the weekends 8:00a.m.. going over there and waking up the bird is a silly idea, the bird would only make more noise because it would be scared.. the bird has a natural clock but, 4:30 seems too early in less someone is up at that time there.

Does your neighborhood have noise ordinances? I wouldn't like to wake up to that either. Maybe you should give your neighbor some recipes and he'll get the hint. Put some Colonel Sander's to go boxes around. That will work about as well as a bell.

You could do that...only it won't teach the bird a darn thing. You would have to do it for about a week for it to learn. Just ask your neighbor to put the bird in another room.
Or if you want, you can borrow my one of my two cats. They will treat it like a hostage situation...quietly go in there, remove the hostage...
