Satan, from the Hebrew word for "adversary", is a term with its origins in the Abrahamic faiths which is traditionally applied to an angel. Ha-Satan is the accuser, a member of the divine council, who challenged the religious faith of humans, especially in the books of Job and Zechariah. Religious belief systems other than Judaism relate this term to a demon, a rebellious fallen angel, devil, minor god and idolatry, or as an allegory for evil.

In many places in the Hebrew Scriptures, the word satan′ appears without the definite article. Used in this way, it applies in its first appearance to the angel that stood in the road to resist Balaam as he set out with the objective of cursing the Israelites. (Nu 22:22, 32) In other instances it refers to individuals as resisters of other men. (1Sa 29:4; 2Sa 19:21, 22; 1Ki 5:4; 11:14, 23, 25) But it is used with the definite article ha to refer to Satan the Devil, the chief Adversary of God. (Job 1:6, ftn; 2:1-7; Zec 3:1, 2) In the Greek Scriptures the word satanas′ applies to Satan the Devil in nearly all of its occurrences and is usually accompanied by the definite article ho.

Satan comes from a Hebrew word meaning "enemy". In the Tanakh (the portion of the Bible Christians refer to as the Old Testament) the word Satan usually refers to an angelic being sent by God as way to test the righteous (as in the Book of Job). In a more generic way it could also mean any person, thing, or idea that comes between a person and God.

The Christians later adopted this concept and added to it other Middle Eastern mythology and lore to create the diabolic being who is opposed to God and tempts humans to sin. Satan is best seen as the dark side of the human consciousness that drives us to commit acts of evil, to sin, to lust, or to murder.

Satan, or Lucipher, thought that god favored humans and satan was an honored high ranking arch angel. Therefore he had followers. There was a war and obviously god won. Satan and his minions, demons, were kicked out into hell. God has the advantage of omnipresence. Satan cant be everywhere at once or else we would be in hell.

Satan was a fallen angel who took thousands of angels with him when he fell. He has those that he took to do his bidding here on earth. Their job is to recruit others on earth to be with Satan and the anti Christ at the end of times. It is written that he will loose. I'm sure that you know many people here on earth who do the work of the devil. They listen to what he tells them to do and will be in eternal hell ever after.

His original name is Lucifer. He was an angel, but he wanted to be more powerful than God, so he was placed into Hell. He gained some power over the earth, and now uses the world and manipulates humans. He is the father of all lies and he twists the truth to make us follow him into Hell. God does not want us to follow him, and God will win in the end. Don't let Satan pull you away from God. God bless.
