Is being "nerdy" a turn-off? I'm in the top 10% of my class. But it seems to me that guys usually go after the dumb ones..?
Just wondering what some of your opinions are.

Thanks.

Of course I'm not going to dumb myself down.

And I don't really think I look like a nerd...

My lady,

Each to his own, if you have to pretend dumb to get a guy, screw it, you don't need him as your self respect will not be at its best and will resent him from jump. Be yourself and enjoy who you are, its not easy accomplishing to 10%, someone will come along that will appreciate your brains and your personality and your body...and you will be happy....

You don't have to talk about your grades and stuff, but if boys don't become your friends for that reason, then its their loss.

No way.

It's funny, but I find that my "nerdiness" is what gets me hit on the most. The guys who want "dumb" girls are typically the guys who cannot handle girls like you. And would you want to be with a guy who can't handle you? Chances are if a guy has to date a girl who's an airhead to make himself feel better about how smart HE is, he never deserved a girl like you anyway.

On the other hand, you have to take into account that people like different things - some guys may just LIKE girls who aren't smart and some guys don't. It all depends on your taste and what you're attracted to.

In the end, you shouldn't worry about if what you're about is a turn-off. You're you and that's all that matters. If a guy is worth your time, he'll see you for the goddess you are and will appreciate your brains AND your beauty. In the meantime, keep up with your studies and be exactly who you want to be. Because ultimatly, that will make you happiest in life, not a guy. :)

No way!! if your intelligence is a turn off then they probably couldn't handle you anyway after all you need to be able to hold a conversation with them and more than likely if the guys are going after the dumb ones its probably that their not looking for a relationship any way. Congrats in being in the top 10% of your class by the way

by nerds i think its not all about there smarts its also about there looks. when it comes to dateing. People in school who are considered the dumb ones that are pritty probably act like so called "dumb blonds" if you know what i meen just because thats what the boys seem to be attracted to. I have also heard from some guys "Not to be mean" that they like a girl who doesnt have much to say.. eek! it sounds so bad. I dont agree at all because when your older you are sooo going to need those smarts. Just keep up your good work and dress nice. They will notice you! good luck

Keep your intelligence-do the best you can. When you get into college, it is the smart ones that the guys come looking for. You are just in that high school whirlwind. That is not where it is-get the best education you can. In college, it is the smart girls that the guys come looking for. By then, they know that intelligence is what they are looking for. Guys don't grow up as fast as girls. Of course they like the one that act dumb, because then they can be macho and have all the answers, they are shy of you because they know you can figure them out. You are headed in the right direction, keep on moving.
Congrat on your grades, that is wonderful.

Being smart is not a turnoff, but having no time for a social life is. Guys like the dumb girls cause the girls focus on men. Balance your time. Go to movies with friend, parties anything. This way someone can get to know you!

Just because you are in the top 10% of your class, doesn't make you a nerd. It means that you are smart and work hard in school. I think that most guys go after smart girls. And someone doesn't like you because you are smart, then they aren't worth being around anyway. Keep up the good work.

depends on what you mean by nerdy.

from your question, im guessing you mean "extremely smart." in that case, no. to be honest, i like them a lot more than the dumb ones, just cause the dumb ones end up being really ditzy and superficial.

however, dressing and acting nerdy is different. if you value your books and your grades much more than your personal hygiene or your social life, then from my perspective, yea, thats a big turn off.

happy note to end this with, eh?

Don't ever dumb yourself down to get a guy. Once you get into the real world (not high school), it's your brains that count. Go to university, get a good job and become an independant woman who can take care of herself. Then you'll find a man who fits in with your life style.
Take care of yourself first, worry about men second!

no, im really smart in my class too, but remember you need some style to succeed.

"dress for sucess", oh dammmn i live by those words!!!

haha anyways... but being smart makes you look like you can actually think and you'll be more sophiscated that way! idk, but that's just how it seems. to me its common sense that guys only go for the dumb ones because they know how to look good. but hey, smart girls aren't all that ugly. just keep yourself cool about your success, and still be able to look like you can live life with some trend in it!!!

♥;;

ohh and if guys dont go after you just cuz you're smart, then they're losers. you want a guy with some brains right? think of ur bright future girl! =D just keep it up, but don't make it look like your trying so hard you knocked all your coolness out. sophiscation is what its all about.
