A lab is abs gorgeous, they get along well with anyone, and are very patient with children (ie will ignore tugging of ears n tail!) obv, when theyre puppies they wont, bt as they mature they wont mind anything u do to them (within limits!!!!!!!!!!) and they love u and protect u to bits!!! they r lovely! xxx

Depends on how much attention, time and food you can give to the pet. Whether you like big dogs, small dogs, etc.

Most dogs will make a wonderful family pet, I highly recommend you to rescue one, the shelters make profiles for your family and profile the dog's personality to see if you'd fit. You can rest assured the shelter will give you the perfect dog your family needs. If you raise a puppy you won't know what you'll be getting, besides the shelter can give you a trained dog so you won't have to go through the whole potty training and formal training, you can start having fun inmediately!.

Please consider adopting.

I guess it depends on what size dog you are looking for, if you have a bigger yard, and can afford it and take good care of it you should get a Golden Retirever or Lab of some sort. But if you have a smaller yard and you are looking for a cute little dog, but not want to deal with cutting their hair, I reccomend the pug, they have a really good personality and fairly easy to take care of. I guess you need to decide what you are looking for in a dog and go get a dog book that shows the different breeds, that will give you a good idea of what to look for.

One that was raised around shildren, & tests as good with them. One that isn't overly protective, because those can wind up attacking other children during a playtime 'misunderstanding'.
One with a short, smooth coat, for ease of maintenance.
One which has lost it's prior home, & needs another.
(One that will be played with daily, & cared for responsibly.)

We took in 2 such -- incorrigable runaways (;
& learned how to keep them home.
One is a mix, which I prefer.

No-Kill shelters usually know their dogs temperaments well, & do a good job of making successful family matches.

I would recommend and Lab. Wanna know why? I have been around they are great pets! They are also good with children. It doesn't matter the color, chocolate, yellow, or black. It matters what the dog is like. Get the lab you like the most see how you're brothers act around the dog see if the dog and the children like each other. You want a dog that is good and friendly to kids and adults and i think labs are the best choice. And

GOOD LUCK choosing you're dog. I'm sure he/she will be great!

depends what sort of family you have! What do you all like doing? If you are active, joggers, cyclists and hikers, a springer spaniel (or other gun dog) is great. If you all love watching TV and computer games, a cocker spaniel or King Charles Cavalier (or other lap/companion dog) is better. If you have a pile of silver and jewels, and a big secure garden, a guard dog would be best! - but all dogs need walks twice a day, quality food and obedience classes and training, no matter what you get.
Read Marley and Me, it is a great true story

kinda depends on what size dog you are looking for if you want a large size pup i would get a Lab(black, yellow, chocolate) they are HUGE but like perfect size. i had a chocolate lab growing up and he was sweet as can be a GREAT family dog! or if you are looking for a smaller dog i would go with a beagle they are GREAT dogs i had a female she was VERY smart.. :) but since you have younger boy brothers i wouldnt go with the whole LITTLE dogs like dachsounds, toy poddles, yorkies those are very hyper and plus he/she'd be gettin stepped on alot with little boys running around and all.. well i hope that helps you sweetie!!

Irish Setters are gorgeos. Labradours and golden retrievers are great with kids.Spaniels are adorable family pets. Collies are loyal and friendly. It may not depend on the breed. I know a rottweiler who is as soppy as anything. And has been with the family since the youngest member of their family was three.

I wouldn't recommend a staffy - i know many who are extremly loving adn liyal but all owners say that they have been for them or someone at least once! Spaniels are good family pets - springers need alot of exercise, cockers are much more laid back and are fantastic family pets, good with children and very loving and loyal, easy to train! Retrievers, Pugs are the best around children and to look after, ummm.. chairn terriers, bassett, beagles! Check out soem of these breeds by googleing them to get more info! Good luck in finding the right pet for you and your family!

For me it is a staffie(not cross bred) but labs are great as well as collies know a lot of people look down and frown on staffies, but I have never met a true staffie to be anything other than 100% plus super dogs with all the family especially with younger members of the family, It is in their protective nature.Whatever breed you choose do your home work and choose wisely. good luck anyway.

I'd suggest a medium to large dog breed, based on the fact that the little breeds tend to nip you and tend to be more "Switched on" (Hyper) a lot more. Where as a larger dog tends to be more placid and calm and willing to put up with a lot more, eg a child pulling its ear etc.

Maybe a setter or maybe labrador? or something of that nature?
Good Luck
