chest pain could be due to a number of reasons including cardiological , pulmonary(lungs), musuloskeletal and psychogenic causes. yours is probably not cardiological as it tends to be related to exertion..and u mentioned that u get it when u're asleep..it could be pulmonary if it increases with inspiration, or musculoskeletal if it's related to movement of body parts or body posture..

Do you mean if you already suffer from angina, is it too late to reverse the condition & prevent a heart attack? If you suffer from angina you should go & see the doctor to be put on medication. A diet low in fat & rich in vitamins & minerals, plus regular exercise & a stress free life style are some of the best things to prevent this condition in the first place. Also you should cut down on your salt intake & not smoke or drink excessiveley. Look the web up & you will find there are different herbs that can prove also beneficial for your heart, i.e hawthorn & motherwart! If you have already started with the chest pains then drink 2 glasses of red wine with an aspirin tablet straight away as the alcohol will cause vasodilation which wil open up your arterys to allow more blood flow to your heart, whilst the aspirin will thin your blood.

try to monitor your symptoms, keep a log and then bring it to ur doc when u visit next time. i'm a nurse , i get this chest pains, mostly mid sternal and sometimes like yours on the left side so kinda scary, but im still alive, although when i had flu symptoms, that was quite unnerving, thought i was having a stroke or had one...my ecg is normal, no heart enlargement or anything but yes, they say, pain is always a warning sign, of something thats not right..so relax but dont ignore ur symptoms

I think I'd get a second opinion. My boss had similar symptoms and his doc said he checked out fine, that he had reflux. He went to a specialist and it turns out he had an artery that was almost entirely blocked. You might not have heart probs., but your body's telling you that something's not right. Good luck!

1) Pinzmetal Angina
2) Do you have any stomach problems? (I could be related to gastritis and reflux)
3) Do you have a yellowish color? (problems with liver or pancreas, check your white part of your eye)
Good luck

If it only happens AFTER you wake up maybe it's your mattress. You might need a new one.
