I want to lock my pc so when i start teaching my kid to use a pc he can't mess it up. Is there any software just for that?

You might want to look into parent controllers software, also if there is a keyword to block, make sure you block the word proxy. Because this past week a bunch of kids have been asking how to bypass the school protection that block my space and some people on here have been dumb enough to give them web sites for proxy, that can basically get them past the blocker program set up by the school.

You can google for parental control software, the fortress program is probably pretty expensive for an individual. It user access control software made by doriansoft.

You can also create a user on your pc for him that has limited power so he can't make configuration changes.


Note about proxy surfing:

The school's net admin should be able to block proxy's to keep the little monsters on the straight & narrow & complying with school policies. If not, here's a link to enlighten him or her. Though it's really a build a better mouse trap situation. they will figure out another way.

Ugh, I hated that software when I was in school! Very annoying stuff. Beware, it can be removed, but probably not by your child.

yeah its called deapfreez. thats what my school uses. its ok but for your kid i would just get a nice simple computer and so he could do anything he wants with it. thats how i learned. my first computer ran on dos and i dont know what i did to it but it never turned on again.
