Cultural preferences are very important , they are an extension of the care a child receives at home. You wouldn't ask why it was important to follow parents preferences if the child was disabled or the parent stated they were vegetarians so why cultural? If you work in a nursery or childcare setting I'm amazed your training didn't involve teaching you the importance of this. Parents have their children's best interest at heart & whether that involves cultural, religious or other preferences then they should be respected.

level 2 or 3 childcare NVQ? yer no those kinda questions they make em sound so complecated! the answer is so you are providing fair and equal care to all children no matter what their race, religion etc and because parents are the one person that knows the ost about their child and have the say as to what their child may eat, waht religion they follow hoe their behaviour is dealt with ect. and also so they feel they can trust you to provide the best care possible to thier child and that they are being tought the same values that the parents want them to learn. or summat like tht! gud luk hope tht helps! :)

I'm all for instilling in your children their genetic history - at home.

We have become so fragmented in this country that it's no longer a melting pot but puzzle pieces of different nationalities whose edges are not matching up. That is one of the major erosion factors of this country encouraged by big business who is actually the government as a way of dividing and conquering the masses.

When is America going to wakeup to what is happening here?

its because feeling united under some banner is fine and its required in terms of the macro view like society , country ,secularism and slashing down of the hierarchy system but does that mean that we gotte compromise about our entity , our roots , our etchnic origin ?. i guess the answer is 'no' and thats the reason we try maintaining our individuality and that can be done be done only by being ourselves and i think the best u can do is by respecting their thought

Because you are being paid to care for them, and to follow their parenting. Change the situation, take two parents, divorced, mother has custody, father has child every other weekend. Its only natural that the mother would expect the father to have the same, or similar rules at his house, as she does hers, so there is no confusion for the child. Same sorta thing for cultural preferences.

I think it's understandable as long as it's within reason. Think about it, would you want someone watching your kid cursing, watching racy movies, (things you're careful to avoid), etc? You don't want everything you're doing for your child to be destroyed by having someone watch them.

Bascially because you are providing a service for which they are paying. It's the same as hiring a lawn guy - he's got to mow the way you want him to or you find a new lawn guy.
