My favourite is actually a Pinot Gris (same grape) - Duck Pond. It's inexpensive and lots of fun to sip on during summer.

For Champagne (Champagne technically must be French), I'd say a vintage (with a year) Veuve Cliquot. But it's above $50 so it may not be reasonable.

For Bubbly in general, and for a nightly somewhat inexpensive bubbly, Mirabelle by Schramsberg. It's FAR better than wines of a similar price range. The Rose' in particular is good. It's under $20 where I shop.

Price is no object when looking at shelf goods in the empty house of a total stranger. I usually lose the Gordons and Southern Comfort but if the sacking is big enough your Pino Grigio and Champaigne might be hauled away. Thieves, I assume, have a place to pour out anything too strange.

I like Mezzacorona Pinot Grigio which is a bit fruity and medium- bodied at a cost around $7.
i usually go for Perriet Jouet champaigne but if i spent less than i go for Piper Heidsieck brut which cost about $30, it's really good for the price and also the Laurent Perrier for about $28.

A great pinot is Altanuta, for champagne I would recommend Codorniu Pinot Noir Rose from Spain. Great product and very pretty in the glass.

I have to say that I was very surprised with the Barefoot Pinot Grigio. It was very cheap, but it was tasty

I like mine sweeter, so I prefer Asti Spumanti--Martini & Rossi has a good one for $15-20 --less if you catch it on special--there are many Asti's out there.
