Yes there is. It started during the 60's, as an effort to get schools to not teach scientific theories involving evolution. The churches took on the school boards, and it got into such a big ruckus that their argument went all the way to the Supreme Court. It ended with the churches getting thrown out of school. By the time it was over, you couldn't even mutter a prayer in class.
It probably would have been all right for a little while longer, if the church hadn't made such a big stink about the science.
Regards,
Chris

I totally agree with you, I think creation should at least be taught along side evolution. However, I think that the government sees creation as a way of getting religion in schools which they feel is against separation of church and state. However, Intelligent Design is a theory just like evolution is, and I think it should be researched and taught in a way that religion won't be forced onto a student. God bless.
For some of the answerers above, how can you prove that carbon dating always works, you can't, and in fact, carbon dating isn't full proof. Also, how can you really explain the big bang, a house can't be built without a builder. And why are humans able to reason, grow in learning, building, and so much that animals can't do. There are a lot of holes in evolution, that's only three examples of so many more I could give. There are plenty of examples as to why God can exist, like the clomplexities of nature that have a patern and design (fractals, the golden ratio). How can something have a design without someone to design it. And why would millions of people say they have faith in God and really believe in Him if he doesn't exist. You would be saying that half the world's population is insane, which I think is crazy in and of it's self. Intellegent Design has been pushed down again and again, but some day, you will see that God is the next discovery. Science keeps changing, and maybe scientists will finally discover that God is real. Please, try to disprove that God exists, and then give me the full story of how we were created. I would like to see you try. Thanks for reading, have a nice day.

Because Creation is a religious concept. It is not a scientific one. Science should be whats taught in school. You already have a place to learn creation. Its called church. If you want everyone to learn Creation, then how about you start teaching Evolution (the real evolution, without a bias toward religion) in your church hmm?

Because most schools do not have classes on philosophy and mythology...most only have the basics of math, science, english, history, etc...and evolution is a part of science, it was not made to be a substitute for creationism, is was found because of science and therefore is included in that class.

Evolution is a scientific theory, thus it is tought in a science class as it should be. Creationism is merely religion trying to tought itself as scientific theory, a way for the church to influence education. Religion doesn't really belong in a class of science.

Alright if you want teach creationism in school then you better teach all of the creation theories. Talk about discrimination, what you really mean to say is why don't schools teach the christian creation myth.

because people equate creationism as a faith based religion
they are afraid to admit that evolution is also a faith based religion.
evolutionists state that life resulted from non-life, matter resulted from nothing, and humans resulted from animals. Each of these is an impossibility of science and the natural world. Sounds like a religion to me.

Evolution is technology, you may no longer quite instruct biology devoid of coaching evolution. The information is all there. It belongs interior the technology college room. do no longer declare that that's a "faith" or has no information devoid of actually studying it first. Creationism isn't technology and has no information for it rather is self. no longer in basic terms that, in spite of the indisputable fact that it additionally makes the declare that "goddidit" and then defends that declare and throws out something that would not help it. that isn't technology, technology is making an attempt out a declare and going anyplace the information leads you, no longer directing it to the place you opt for it to bypass. I do in spite of the indisputable fact that think of that it may well be exciting to confirm training that do instruct faith in faculties. yet no longer instruct them as the two actuality or fiction. yet merely instruct what the religions perception and practice, and it rather is historic previous. faith has been a considerable portion of the human species and that's worth of learn and that i think of greater human beings could desire to be uncovered to the historic previous of it.

Because Creationism is Religious Belief, not Scientific Theory. Science belongs in schools and Beliefs belong at church. Or home. But not school, unless you go to a private religious school. There is no such thing as public religious school. Hence, no Belief in school.

Because evolution is a theory, and not a belief. You can't teach things that have no facts to back them up. And because people like me would ask so many "why" questions. Some Christians came door to door in my neighborhood and to everything they said, I replied "why?" And they backed everything up with "the bible tells us so". But, than that means that if I read something out of a random book, it is true. Which means that people have the power to fly.
You can't teach faith to us, because I'd be the first in line of my school's many atheists to run after the teacher with torches and pitchforks. Hell, I'd even be the one to create the mob!
