Okay I like this boy. But they're a few problems. First, he's my neighbor and we're kinda close. Second, he's younger (1 year) than me. And third, I'm not sure if he likes me (Partially because one day he told me he liked someone, only to turn around and tell me he was joking). I'm tired of being rejected and I don't really want to ask him out, for fear that'll say no. Any advice?

First of all, him being a year younger at any age should make no difference...and if your friends think so you have another problem right there. Dating a neighbor is a very dangerous thing, you don't say your age but regardless I am sure you already realize that could be a big problem when you break up after dating.
You say you're tired of being rejected, don't really want to ask him out and get rejected again..yet you are asking for advice so I have to assume you want him to ask you out. If you weigh the danger of him living so close with hurt feelings and still want to date him...then find some things he likes to do and make sure you are there...sports for school, after school activities, clubs, maybe even neighborhood games and events if you have them. That way you'll spend more time with him and have him more likely to ask you out. If you do that for awhile and he still doesn't try...you'll know the only thing to do is bite the bullet and ask him. good luck

if he's your neighbor than it might be better in like getting together and stuff like that. if he's younger than you it shouldnt really matter that much they're might be talk but eventually u and people will get used of it. if he told you he liked someone if he just said "i like someone" and didnt say a name he could have been talking about you. they're shouldnt be a fear of him saying no i mean because they're is other boys out there.

rejection hurts, but you cant fear it and run away from it, otherwise it hurts worse. Rejection is a normal part of life, but it sounds to me like you wont be getting that this time. He is giving you the subtle-est of hints that he interested. I totally understand your "i dont want to ruin the friendship" point of view......but if you never try you will never know. think about that.

Get over the fear, ask him out and end your misery now rather than wallow in it. If he doesn't want to go out with you, you won't be able to make him. If he does want to go out with you, he will.
You really can't lose because either way, you'll feel no worse than you do now not knowing...good luck

if ur close to him.. dont go fo it yet.. because its true what ppl say when they say that if u get with a bestfriend of yours.. and u break up.. you might not end up talking at the end.. and besides.. he is ur neighbor.. u will have loads of time

it dosen't matter if he's younger than u and second you should talk to him, if it doesn't work out you can still be friends......by the way you can say I really like you and he says no you can say you were joking ( JK...JK...JK...JK) no seriously you should try that
