I thought that when we were born again, we were new creatures in Christ, old things past? Therefore, to me that homosexual should not and would not want to identify with that description anymore since they are new creatures in Christ. I keep reading Christians say that its okay if he can be or continue to call him/herself a homosexual but not practice it. Any thoughts?

So basically what I am hearing is that regardless of your sin, at least those that are more visible (prostitute, murderer, thief), you will be a new creature in Christ without labels but if a former homosexual person is saved he remains a homosexual. If a thief can stop stealing and murderer can stop killing, its not the same for the homosexual? He/She will continue to have these desires until Jesus returns?

I think everyone needs to leave the gays alone. I am christian and straight, but I am pretty sure all of these so called christians that are running around passing judgment on everyone will have a much harder time getting God's approval than any gay man or woman.
Christianity is not about sexuality, it is about the kind of person you are and how you treat others, and I do recall there being many passages in the bible, especially our New Testament which preach about tolerance and understanding. Nobody is asking you to be gay with them, let them be and if it is a problem, God will work it out. Anyone who thinks they need to do God's work for Him by passing judgment and harassing people who do not live the same way we do is doing exactly what we were all taught not to do growing up, that behavior is very Un-Christian!

I'm not a christian, but here's my thoughts ...
I've heard two very strong arguments among the christian community. The first is that christians are just forgiven sinners. The second is that becoming a christian should remove the desire to be homosexual.
However, there are still christians who lie, covet, have extra-marrital heterosexual relations, and steal. They do this on a daily basis. What is the difference between doing any of these things on a daily basis, and being a homosexual? When I ask this question, I am told that real christians don't do these things.
My response to that is, I thought that christians were still sinners. Christians insist that they aren't perfect, we shouldn't expect them to be perfect. If they can still sin and have slip-ups in other aspects of their lives, what makes homosexuality any different?
I have a friend who is christian, and recently got married. This is one of the most spiritual christians I've ever met. 4 months prior to getting married, her fiance moved so that they would be closer together. They got an apartment together, lived together, and yes ... slept together. Does this mean she is not a christian?
According to your own doctrine, homosexuality is no worse than any of the things that you do everyday. Stop picking on others and work on your own lives.
Obviously, someone disagrees with me. If you can explain this contradiction to me -- not just quote scripture about the evils of homosexuality -- feel free to email me.

A homosexual is a person who is attracted sexually to the same sex. Being born again apparently does not change that about a person. A person may be celibate, and so not pursue their desires either way. They may simply see desire arise, and do nothing about it. Imagine that. At that point, I don't see the usefulness in outwardly identifying those desires to others, since they can never be affected by them. Why are we talking about this? Who cares who you're not going to have sex with.

If that person has accepted Christ, he/she is definitely a new person. If they have turned away from their former ways (as we all should do) and do not want to refer to themselves as homosexual anymore, that's entirely up to them.
But often they continue to feel an attraction for the same sex and therefore identify with homosexuality.
I don't think it really matters as long as they are following Christ and turning away from sin.

The bizarre obsession of many Christians with sex is interesting. Jesus never said anything about homosexuality. If you are trapped in the suffocating world of Evangelical circular reasoning, then you could declare that the world is flat, and not see the weirdness of this thinking.
The Bible is a sacred text, and sacred texts are meant to be intepreted in a new way for the changing needs of each generation. The Bible is meant to be understood spiritually, not literally. If you try to make literal sense out of an inherently controadictory book, then you will only confuse yourself.

I've a Co - Worker who was a Homosexual. He got genuinely Saved. He isn't a Homosexual anymore.
If you are Saved the old life is dead, and you are Borne Again in Christ, and the New Life you Live is Christ Living in and Through you. You are a New Creature, old thing's,(Homosexuality), are passed away.

I agree with you, once you receive Jesus as your Lord and Savior you are a new creature in Christ. We must all keep in mined that all who say they are born again are not always born again. We were all sinners at one time and we all struggle with sin even now if we are honest about it. For someone whom was a homosexual the battle rages all the time. The devil knows are weaknesses, he knows where to strike. We must be their for our brothers and sisters in Christ always for this very reason.

It doesn't matter what one's sin is. Homosexuality, pornography, alcoholism, multiple partners, drugs, greed, yadda yadda...
Becoming Christians does not mean sin goes away. We are not freed from sin just by calling on Christ.
Sadly this is how most Christians end up oppressed by demonic influences. They consider themselves utterly free. Guess they don't read the bible.
Being a Christian means daily, hourly and often even minute by minute conversion. That is changes in one's heart.

Homosexuality has nothing to do with religion. Once you are gay, you are always gay....and nobody can "cure" you because its not a disease.
And why would someone continue to call himself a homosexual if he doesn't "practice" it, as you say. If all the person liked, was the same sex, but his religion forbade it, wouldn't that make him an asexual?
