If the owner was glad to get his dog back, then don't feel bad. What a great thing you did, taking in a stray dog, caring for it and loving it. Just think of the experience you got with the little guy.
Now go to the local shelter and adopt one that you can keep. Nothing fills the void like unconditional love.

2 months and the owner didn't contact you???, what does he think you are? his B?, that your house is a dog hotel?

If this is not the case then ignore me and give it some time. But if this is the case then fight for the dog in small claims court, he might be mistreated where he is going, you gave this dog 2 months of your life, did everything possible to contact the owner, the guy never shows up and suddenly decides to recover the dog. Make him pay for the effort you put into the animal, or force him to give up the dog.

You can always say, oops, sorry nobody claim the dog so I took him to the animal shelter, but I liked the breed so I bought this similar-to-yours pomeranian :D.

There is no easy way to get over an animal leaving, even if it was a stray and the owner found you. It is very hard I mean you had two months with this little dog. If you really liked having a dog, and you felt really good about rescuing the poor thing from a life of uncertanty, I would go ahead and adopt a dog from the local shelter. They are in the same predicament that this pomeranian was in, except they only get seven days tops, not two months.

Here is a flip side so to speak. Last year I lost my dog. I did everything in my power to recover her. Lost dog signs, ad in paper, flyers mailed to vets and groomers. I stopped and looked at all road kills. All to no avail. In my desparation, I went ahead and got a new dog. I was devestated over losing Mady. One month after I got Bailee, i got the call I never expected. 3 long months after losing Mady, I got a lead as to her where abouts. It seems that my dog was picked up as a "stray", and given to her daughter. I got the animal shelter and the police involved in getting her returned to me, her rightful owner. But, funny thing is, these people called her Mady. They saw my signs, but had no intention of returning her. And, I am sorry, but a stray is not cleaned, groomed and in good health. Just because she didn't have a collar on her, doesn't mean she is a castoff. It just so happened that I had given her a bath, and didn't put her collar back on. Because, I am bitter that the people didn't contact me, and hopefully the owner of your found dog doesn't harbor the resentment I feel towards the thieves that stole my dog.

So, you did the right thing taking care of him, but you should have contacted your local aspca, animal shelters, the police, or taken the time to run an ad yourself. In my case I was able to prove ownership, because I did try to find her. Plus I had her AKC papers, pictures, the ad I placed, and copies of the flyers I made. So, shame on the owner for not putting an effort into locating his baby.

I know it is hard losing something you've grown fond of, and you are definitely a pet-worthy person, so do yourself a favor, pat yourself on the back for doing a good deed, and go ahead and find a new fur-baby to love.

I hope you made sure that it actually was the owner. There are unfortunately some pretty unscrupulous people out there.

Get yourself another dog. If it doesn't have to be a Pomeranian, I suggest saving the life of some lovable mutt from your local animal society. You'll know which one to take as soon as you see them! It will be love at first sight!

Congratulations for being so caring and honest! Obviously you did a great job of looking after this dog. You deserve to get yourself a dog...check out local shelters or a pomeranian rescue near you.

Just think. If you had lost your dog, wouldn't you want someone like yourself to care for it until it found its home again?
--Good luck.

You have a very big heart! Thank you for taking care of this little one. Maybe if the owner does not live to far away, you could ask him/her if you may walk the dog every so often or take care of it when they are on vacation.

If you are looking for a dog you may visit your local shelters. Lots of "furkids" are looking for a loving home.

here are a few web sites that may help you too.

Contact the owner and ask if you can negotiate having the dog live with you (like paying or working for his return).

3hrs isn't something. while canines are left on my own they sleep. think of of ways long they're left on my own at night while persons are sound asleep? precisely. by ability of the time you get an entire time activity then i'm guessing the canines could have been with you a on a similar time as and be subsequently was once left on my own for a quantity of time in the process the day. Many, many people paintings finished time and have canines. this is your decision in case you opt for for to get somebody to come again by ability of and consider on the canines and walk him on a similar time as you're out, in my opinion i would not, i do no longer see the will for it. It would not selection between breeds, it varies between canines. for sure any canines left on my own for 10-12hrs an afternoon isn't sturdy and that i could question why people who do this also have a canines. A canines could be left longer than a domestic dog can. you are able to look into crate education, I have not any experience of this in spite of if it form of feels to paintings for different individuals. You get the canines was once left on my own by ability of leaving them on their own for classes of time and build on it. do no longer tension over it, in case you tension, so does the canines.
