I don't see why the race for life should just be just for women, i really wanted take part with my boyfriend this year but seems such a shame he can't take part just because he is male. I don't see why the focus should just be on women, plenty of men get cancer too.

is that the one where women wear bras? I think you should allow women to have a female only race, so many of the women who do it are not the sporting types, just your every day housewife who doesn't feel like she is taking part in a competitive event, but a unifying experience with people like herself who have gone through breast cancer (a huge killer) or supported a loved one through it. Sure theres a time for sexual equality, but theres also a time for understanding when sexes unite in an gender binding understanding. How many of those 40-60 year old women would gleefully run in their bras if they felt men where around them. I know you'd love the support of your boyfriend but if you really want to raise money for cancer research you two could take part in any number of sporting events and donate your proceeds to them. If it's about taking part in this particular event then you have to respect it for what it is.

Yes I think its a shame men can't take part.

Plenty of men suffer from cancer or have a partner or child who do.

I would really like to run race for life with my son who has been in remission from cancer for 7 years.(he's 12)

the reason y it is a females only race, cos it is not a competition. some males think races mean it is a competition and they get too competitive. the race for life is a social activity for woman to gather. males can take part in the race for life they can volunteer their help during the day or they can cheer you on at the side.

I think that race is mostly about breast cancer, but other than that, it really DOES seem stupid! Did you know that EVERY MAN will die of prostate cancer unless something else kills him first?? But you don't hear much about it--not 'politically correct', I guess. Well get a big bunch of people and go ask the organizers, raise a little hell, they'll change!! It's about $$$, and it all spends!!!!

I agree. My son trained every day with his fiance, and was disappointed at not being able to take part.. As has been pointed out here, men can and do get breast cancer. I say run, who's going to stop him!

You should complain. Reverse discrimination of this kind is not only stupid...it stops society dealing with the real issues.

I think men and women should refuse to take part in anything that excludes the other gender...put the control back in the hands of ordinary people and stop discrimination being used by politicians!!!!

Sexism is only against women persons. Racism is only whilst its against every person yet whites. Ageism is only against the old. certainly once you're a white male on your 20s there is no "ism" against you, you ought to smile and bare it.

me too, but I believe the race for life is for Breast Cancer, that is why they like women to run it.

The thing is, men can suffer from breast cancer too, so I think men should be able to join in.

maybe you boyfriend could run with you, there's no law to say he can't run with you, is there?

i agree it is sexist and stupid as it reduces the number of runners.

im not against women only cancer charities as i believe ANY money donated to ANY cancer research is a good thing.

It's a wommon's issue, and they only want womyn to participate or even be in the area. Especially for the mass Pagan Sapphic Wedding afterwards. Please leave all Priapic Oppressor-Rapists at home (if you haven't been able to send them into exile yet).
