My showchoir is putting on a showcase at the end of the year, our "Cabaret", and I want to do something that is funny. A song/comedy sketch. Does anyone know of anything like that? Maybe something like the ballad song from spamalot but more upbeat....

The absolute best and funnniest would have to be "I Touch Myself" by the DeVinyls. Mike Myers did it in the first Austin Powers and I have seen some other people do it in front of audiences and its hilarious. The only thing is that you have to have a pretty good sense of humor and imagination yourself. If you can pull it off..........it would be great!! Or you could always do the Top Gun - "Lost that Loving Feeling" bit. Another classic!!

Baritone/ Female duet, "Raving Bueaty" from Meet Me in St. Louis. You can really act it up. It starts with a verse of the male gushing his heart out in an over the top love song. In the second verse, the the girl sings about how horrible he is. It is really funny. I am playing Warren Sheffield in our HS production of Meet Me... at our school, and I love it. Another good song from that musical is "A Day in New York." Very humorous if done right.

A good one is that Guys and Dolls song where the two girls are talking about if they should get married..etc. I'm not sure what it is called, but it is very upbeat, and has a lot of movement/dialogue. If you dont like that one, you could always go for a song from A Chorus Line. I love the song called: I can Do That.

There's this crazy comedic opera that I can't remember the name of...but anyway, the song from it that I know best is called Neighbour's Chorus (or Neighbor's Chorus, unsure of the spelling). It's hilarious, and is really dramatic. Funny dramamtic, you know? It's about this neighbourhood where these people are worried about this guy who seems really down about something. They keep asking him, "Why do you look so low?" They ask him about his love life a bunch of times, then the best part happens: "Did you beat her and choke her and knock her all about? AHHHHHHHHH!" It's hilarious. Look it up!

if you are a physical comedian -- "make them laugh" -- which I think is a Cole Porter song....

Donald O'Conner does it in "Singing in the Rain" -- and he is a hoot -- here it is on youtube

How about anything Danny Kaye did?
