That is so sweet - I am sure that will be very special for both of you. As for the car, not sure on that one as I don't know how much you have to spend - what about something like a ford focus? When I was looking for a new car, I went to one of those car supermarkets - that way you can look at lots of makes and models and try them out inside.

Although not a very big boot. The Peugeot 1007 is brilliant for access. They have two very large doors and they slide, so you do not need a large parking space. The seats are a nicer height for old people as well. Take a look at the web site. Pick one up nearly new if possible as they are a far better buy, You should be able to pick one up at about 50% of list price as they only appeal to a very small proportion of the market. Good Luck.

You probably need something with a high-ish seat for easy ingress and egress, a reasonably low floor and wide-opening doors.

I would consider the following:
Any mini-MPV (Renault Scénic, Ford Focus C-Max, Vauxhall/Opel Zafira, VW Touran, etc.)
Any small van-based car (Citroën Berlingo, Peugeot Partner, Renault Kangoo, VW Caddy Life, Fiat Doblo, etc.)
Renault Modus
Mazda2
Ford Fusion
Vauxhall/Opel Meriva
Fiat Idea
Toyota Yaris Verso
Daihatsu YRV
Honda Jazz
Hyundai Atos or Amica
Hyundai Matrix
Nissan Note
Mitsubishi Colt (current model)

Look for a 3-door car. Although the vehicle can be small, the doors are large and is is easier for an elderly person to get in and out. My old mum was well pleased when I bought one.

The larger the car the better. Try to find one that sits low that she can get her leg in and out of easily. Electric seats are a big help as they can be put all the way back to make getting in and out easier and adjusted with a push of a button once she is in the seat.

Make sure to have room to place her walker or can in the boot or trunk of the vehicle.

Go for a two door golf ,for a two door car as a wider entrance than a four door and it will be easier for her to get in and out of the car .
