Try your local volunteer center. They specialize in matching you with local pre-screened volunteer projects. These projects can be one-time or short-term. If you are interested in longer-term projects, they can also connect you with other local non-profit organizations that can use your skills and talents.

Through my local volunteer center, I tutor children at the library, work at the food bank, local children's shelter, clean up our parks and beaches, and a lot of other projects.

There is a web site specifically for matching up volunteers with volunteer opportunities. Here you go www.volunteermatch.org. This works wonders for organizations that are looking for people but don't know where to go! Hope you find something in your area. By the way, Kudos to you for volunteering. It makes the world a better place when we all chip in.

Hospitals, local service agencies such as community action centers, centers for independent living, or even elementary schools. Look in the phone book under "Community Services" and see if there is a volunteer agency in your area. If so, call them, explain the project, and ask if they know where volunteers are needed.
