than why does the church still tell people that they're going to heaven, when they die if they're good? I was just curious about this question? Is there any denomination that doesn't tell Christians this? Oh yeah and I'm not an athiest or anything.

Wrong. Wrong. Wrong!!! First of all, what the Bible does say is that 1) All have sinned and fallen short of earning their way to heaven. 2) God wants that all should be with Him in heaven - that is what we were created for. and 3) Jesus died so that who-so-ever will believe in Him will be saved (ie: go to heaven). God loves us so much that he sent His own Son to pay the ultimate price for our sins so we don't have to. That makes it a free gift.

The number that your are refering to, I believe, is the 144 thousand mentioned in the book of Revelations, chapter 7. If you read the whole chapter it is made clear that those are all Jews that are sealed to protect them as they go through the judgement of the earth in the last days. Specifically, it is 12 thousand from each tribe of Isreal, totaling 144 k. There are no Christians in that group. And if you study all the scriptures that deal with the end times you will realize that there will be no Christains left on the earth at that time. We will ALL be in heaven.

One of these days, the truth is going to be known and the church will have to pay. Heaven is right here on earth, make the best of your life now and let tomorrow worry about itself.

(Matthew 6:34) Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

(It is very wrong to anticipate trouble, or meet it before hand; if it was for no other reason but this, that every day's trouble is enough, and should not be needlessly added to, by an over concern what shall be done for tomorrow; or how shall the necessities of it be answered, or the trials of it be endured.)

Actually, the only denomination that believes only 144,000 are going to heaven are the Jehovah's Witnesses.

I do not believe that. The 144,000 is in reference to the martyrs, not to all people who are going to heaven. Later in Revelations, John says that he saw a number of people "beyond reckoning." That's how many are REALLY going to heaven.
Revelations 7:9
After this I looked and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and in front of the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands.

I think the passage you are referring to is in Revelations, and it has nothing to do with the exact number of people going to heaven. It may have to do something with the Jews, but this text cannot be interpreted with certainty because Revelation is not a very clear book!
You don't go to heaven because you are good, but because you believe in Jesus Christ as your savior. If you have ever done something wrong in your life, which we all have, you will go to hell.
I pray that you will look into what the Scriptures really say, just to be informed for yourself. And that you will find what this books says to be true and come to accept the lord as your savior.

The majority of Xian denominations do not believe one will go to heaven simply because one is "good." As far as I know, the only group that once taught that there were specific number of people would go to heaven were the Jehovah's Witnesses, but had to change when their numbers were higher than the amount they taught.

Well for starters it really doesn't matter how "good" you are because you'll never be good enough to get into heaven. In life we all sin, you could be Mother Teresa or Pope John Paul, we are all sinners who don't deserve to even be considered by God. Fortunately for us however the way to God's kingdom is through the acceptance of Jesus Christ no strings attached. Accepting Jesus means striving to become like Jesus and loving one another as he loved the world. God wants as many of his precious children to get to heaven as possible, there is no "maximum capacity" sign when Gos is the architect.

There's a reference to the 144,000 that will come out of the tribe's of Israel stated in Revelation. This does not refer the number of people in heaven, but the Jehovah's Witnesses think that it does. I think they might be the only ones who make this claim.

You must read the bible to find all out . If all it took was to be good then why did Jesus suffer, shed his blood and die on the cross then ? People don't want to hear the true word that we are all sinners deserving erternal punnishment in hell , and the only way out is repentance and through the blood of Jesus.

The bible does not say a certain amount of people will go to heaven. It says that he who believes in Jesus will go to heaven.
