I'm 14 and I recently had an X-Ray taken of my teeth when I got my braces off. Previously I had been told I would need my Wisdom teeth pulled, but the recent x-ray pic showed I didn't have any. I talked with my Orthodontist and she said I didn't have any, but they might grow in when I'm older. I'd like to know what the chances of wisdom teeth growing in at my age? (And remember, there were no signs of anything there, just empty space in my gum)

At 14, you are too young for any wisdom teeth to start to emerge inside the mouth. That usually occurs in the late teens-early twenties. When you said that previously you had been told you would have to have your wisdom teeth removed, I am assuming that was from the orthodontist who usually makes a blanket statement such as that before actually taking xrays to see if the wisdoms are actually present in the bone. Most orthodontist will just tell you right at the beginning that they will want your wisdoms removed, before they even know if you have any present. If your recent xray showed that you didn't have any wisdom teeth present, assuming the xray was the type that will show down along the root tip of exsisting teeth and of the boney area where a wisdom tooth would be developing, then you will not have any grow in at a later date. There are different types of xrays, different views of teeth for specific needs. If I need to know if a patient has wisdom teeth developing below the gumline, I will take four separate xrays of each posterior quadrant. A simple "bitewing" xray is good for detecting decay but NOT good for telling if wisdoms are lurking below.
Again, assuming the correct view xray was taken and no wisdoms were seen at your age, you can feel safe in knowing you were one of the lucky ones born without them and will never need to worry about them developing. Good luck!

You are a little young for wisdom teeth, I think. I did not get mine until I was 20 years old, and I only had 3. Some people will get 2, and some will get 4 or even 5. The numbers vary, but they are more common to come in around the early 20s.

Yes, these could actually be your wisdom teeth. I took out my son's lower wisdom teeth when he was 15 and I have seen them in many other patients of that age. Not hundreds, but dozens anyway...

I'm 21 and have had only 1 removed. My others haven't come in yet. Some people get them in young but it's not uncommon to get them in your 20's!

When I got braces at 13, my dentist told me that I didn't have any wisdom teeth.

I'm 31, and I still don't have any so I guess he was right!

Be glad you don't, to have them removed is very painful...

Hopefully she's right and you don't have any. Be thankful. I had my 4 removed when I was 19.
