Drink lots of herbal tea with a little honey for energy.
You can overcome the pain of hunger pangs by remembering fasting is an act of devotion to God. Don't over do it, especially if you need to work or study. A better option is to refrain from eating certain high protein foods for a period of time instead of fasting for a whole day.

I am not trying to bust your bubble but your fast is for the wrong reason. You prove to God how much you love him by being obedient and showing God that you want him in your life by pursuing and building your one on one personal relationship with Him that began when you asked Jesus into your heart.
The purpose of fasting is to discipline your body and enable your spirit to lead you. Fasting can help you to hear God more clearly, however it does not earn you any points with God. In the New Testament, Paul, encourages believers to fast often. When you are fasting the idea is to replace the time you would have spent in preparing and eating your meal with time spent reading the Holy Bible and to spend time in prayer. When we do this we have the Holy Spirit in us change us, enable us and empower us to walk on the path that God has made just for us, today. Fasting is totally for our benefit and does nothing to move God at all.

If you are hungry, that whole God-as-only supply-of-energy idea isn't working for you, is it?
Get a sandwich. There are people starving in Africa every day. God isn't isn't impressed enough to take care of them, why should he be impressed by you? You could do some good by looking for ways to help people who don't have a CHOICE about having nothing to eat.

I think fasting is the oldest joke in the book even though a number of ancient religions do it. I think the only benefit of fasting is that a person might have some hallucinogenic effect and think that God or some spiritual entity is satisifed with this and that it has spoken to them. And this normally happens before they pass out.

Eat! You don't have to starve yourself to be fasting. You can pray and tell God what you are going to be using as your way of fasting. Pick a favorite food, candy, habit, cursing, and so on. You do not have to cut all the food out. Just pray and pray in private and keep you fasting between you and God. Now I may be wrong but that is some of the ways of fasting that I was taught. I do believe in fasting though, it was part of what we did when my mother in law was diagnosed with several cancerous lumps in her breasts. Many years ago now, and she is still alive and healthy in her early 70's.. Good luck and God Bless.

go to www.billbright.com for a guide to fasting. Do's and don'ts, and understanding that is very helpful. I went there after the second day of a 7 day fast, and it was priceless help.
