if i tie him to a tread mill will this help him lose weight...i havent got time to walk him

you need to get yor lazy butt up from the tv and walk the dog. You dont deseve a dog if you cant take care of it, this includes walking it. If you dont have time to walk the dog then sell the dog or give it away

and if you have time to watch the telly you have time to walk a dog, it is called making time, if you cannot be bothered and do not care enough about your dogs health then maybe it is time to rehome him

Daily exercise is important for pets to keep fit and trim. A daily walk with you may be better.
I have two malteses, one is obese. I took him to the vet and discovered he has an underactive thyroid. This condition is fairly common in dogs and easily treated.

I agree, if you don't have time to walk him then you don't have time own him or play or feed him. Please whatever you do, do not tie him up to a treadmill. This will not be a good idea. He can seriously injure himself. You need to re-vamp your schedule to give your dog some time or do him a favor and give him to someone who will make time for him. You are flurting with cruelty to animals.

If your dog slips, then he's going to choke. Get off the couch and walk him, and switch him to a food for overweight dogs.
If you have time to WATCH TELEVISION then you definitely have time to walk your dog.

take ur dog to ur vet and the vet could possibly work out a diet plan.
