I have a puppy he is a Pitbull and Chocolate Lab mix very cute and now for the most part healthy . The only problem is he snorts not all the time but for a majority he does . When i got him we took him to the vet because he was very sick . He has a indention on top of his nose which seams to push over an pertrude on the side of his nose as if he was hit with something very hard and broke his nose . It dident look normal to me . If you move parts of his nose you feel and hear the cartilage pop which ive never seen before. So when i asked the Vet about it she said it was normal . But she dident really take a good look at his nose she was more worried about the big ulcer in his mouth she went on to say after his meds and stuff he would breath normal . But after it was all said and done he still snorts. Ive use humidifiers , steamed him while i was in the shower , use the nose blug things they use for babies ( sorry i dont know the name of it ). I did everything i could think of and STILL snorting . several people have looked at him and say the same thing that his nose has been broken . He doesent seem to be in any discomfort from it but im going to get a second opinion . My question is if it has been broken and has healed can it be fixed or would it have to be rebroken and placed back in the right place ? I would take pictures its just hard to see on film you have to feel it and see in person .

To your question of can it be fix. I believe the answer is yes. You just have to find the right vet to do it. I don't know if they would wait until he is fully grown or not. But just like with humans when they break their noses there has got to be someone in the veterinary world who can at least give you the answers you want.
I don't know where you are but if you have a veterinary school like Tuffs or even Cornell near you then I'd make an appointment with either one of them or one nearest to you for a consultation and see what they have to say.
He is so very cute and just your asking tell me that you are the kindest person, most loving to your little guy.
Good luck!

It does indeed look like he may have been struck by something, then again he could have a cleft palet. He is very cute btw. Also if it was broken and has now healed, in order to reposition it you would have to rebreak the nose. So as long as he can breathe (even if he does snort) he should be fine.

Cute puppy!! His nose does look a bit strange. I'd recommend seeing your vet to see what she says now that he is no longer sick. It is possible that surgery can be done to correct the defect and make breathing more comfortable for him. I wouldn't assume cruelty, it could be from an injury when he was very young, caused my momma dog or a litter mate, or just a birth defect. Good luck.

Well, I don't know why the vet couldn't see the problem, as it is visible in your pics..Adorable puppy, by the way!
I think it can be fixed, with surgery, but would wait until he is older, perhaps at the same time as neutering? (if he isn't yet) I would go to a more versatile vet, though. choose one with experience.
However, if it isn't making him uncomfortable, It may be best left alone..My first thought is that it may have had a door closed on it..that happens a lot with friendly pups.

It does not look normal. If I had to guess I would say he was bitten on the snout by a litter mate or his mother. I would also guess that the snorting is caused by that bite puncturing a sinus.
