I'm want to get a bird, but I don't know which is better. I know parakeets are the most popular, but some say that cockatiels are more friendly. What do you think?

cockatiels are great starter birds... they tend to bond with you more.. some even talk... parakeets are usually not as handleable.... I would suggest a cockatiel..... you should also join this group they are really helpful, plus they have some great links on their page including parrot placement page... and some great recipes for birds...

Parakeets are much easier to have than Cockatiels. The bigger the bird (of course there are exceptions), the smarter it is and the more demanding it can be. Both are very noisy birds. Parakeets are cheaper and smaller size. Cockatiels are louder. What suits you best?
