If it does it alot then you could have a virus. This usually just means windows is performing some kind of background task, but if it does this all the time then there is a bigger problem such as a virus

Most likely you got virus, this what you should do.
1. Restart your PC to Safe mode with "Network"
2. Open IE > http://www.bitdefender.com/
3.) on left side menu click "online Scan"
This should take care

Look on the applications tab. If there is nothing there, it's something that Windows is running, such as an SMS upgrade.

Its simple, either you have too many programs running at once or you have too much stored on your hard drive
