I Think that there are many reasons that racism is still in America. I liked to say that I am not racist but the truth is I think everyone has a little racism, It may not just be about Race though its like human nature for people wanting to be better then others. I think its sitll alive in america today because people are not breaking the chain. My Grandparents are still racist and call be whom are not cacausion "colored". Despite my grandparents racism my parents taught me that every one is exceptiable and therefore I now hang out with people of different race because my parents broke the chain and taught me that skin color does not make me any more superior . at all. Yes maybe I had a more fortunate history but still I am no better because my skin is white. I think many places still Divide people by there color. For example schools still ask on State Test and other things your ethniticity/ race . I think this is unexceptiable because how smart people are has a lot more to do with hereditiy and enviroment then color of the skin. Public and Goverment needs to stop dividing people by race. Another reason Racism is still alive in America is because at least where I am from and Other places there are more black people under the povitry level and There is a greater drop out rate for that race. If We want Racism to stop I think we as americans need to unite and Stop it once and for all. We need to break the Chain

Racism is only alive in the ignorant and the prideful. Racism is dead in America, but lives in those people who exhibit the character traits previously listed. I truly believe it is a null issue at this point in America. Now, outside America racism is alive and thriving and much much more of a problem than it is in America.

That’s a tough question. But remember it’s not just in the USA but a world-wide phenomenon. And there are various reasons why it persists.
1. It’s taught to us by our relatives, our religions, and our institutions.
2. It’s used as a strategy for “one-ups-mans-ship” to get a head at the expense of others. (Greed runs the world.)
3. It’s easier than trying to understand others. (No one is interested in the truth.)
4. To some degree it’s probably a left over tribal instinct to distrust anyone who is not a member of your tribe.
5. It’s used by some to tag others as racists to put them in a box or on the defensive.
6. It can be a powerful unifying force to motivate you tribe to take the battle to other tribes. (Sunny vs Shiite, Irish protestant vs catholic, Israelis vs Palestinians, and on and on.)

Because unfortunately racists are still alive in America.

Because it's profitable for some people to keep it alive. They earn their keep by "dealing " with it. If you just look around, I think most people can say it's not here.

Because ignorance, intolerance, hatred, and things of that nature are still in existence as well.
