I just finished doing some work for this guy and he was telling me his childrens names; Alinta, T.Y....I've forgotten what the others were, but they definitely weren't Johnny, Susie or Katie or anything like that. And I'm not criticizing it, I just thought it might be something that Mormons do.

I read somewhere it is because they have a small pool of last names and unusual first names are therefore needed to help avoid confusion.

I think you are being a little too general here... I come from a family of lots of Mormons - my siblings names are Stacie, Chelsi, Dallin...my in-laws, Jared, Jenny, Tabitha, Misty, Tyson, Spencer...
I think it really depends on the person, not their religion. Some people like to use ancestors names also... if I ever have a daughter, her middle name will be Gwen because that is one of my ancestors and I liked that name. I know lots of Mormons with weird names and some with completely normal, plain names.

i respect Irish names too! My favorites are Seamus, Cael and Ciaran for a boy and Aoife, Roisin and Catriona for a lady. Of your list, my favorites are Niall and Áine. i have self assurance Tadhg is suggested TIEG inspite of the actuality that, like the first portion of the note tiger. i respect that call too. :) i do not imagine that's any more beneficial strange than someone making use of a French or Italian call in the journey that they don't look that ethnicity. a recognition is basically what you're undemanding by ability of, and in case you adore that call, it is your present for your infant.

Yeah, they give them made-up names, that are vaguely biblical sounding. Like "Jonuel" or "Milandra" Stuff like that. Nephi and Yabeyel.

Mormons do a lot of weird things...just ask me! Been one for a long time!

My children are named...

William...(now that's an odd one)
Michael...(another corker)
Laura...(should make her stand out in a crowd)
Steven....(well there you go...another unpronounceable name)

You're an idiot.
