this worked for my dog:

take your dog out on a leash and walk him to the spot where you want him to poop. If he is sniffing other areas just drag him away and say no firmly. WHen you are at the spot you want him to poop encourage him to do so and if he does give him HUGE encouragement and a treat. once he is used to it try him offleash but still go with him to make sure he goes to his spot. Finally stand at the door and tell him to go to his spot. make those words the command for him to poop in the certain area. BTW if he has pooped anywhere else, pick it up and place it in the area you want him to poop in.

good luck!

perhaps whilst he has to pass to the bathing room positioned him on a leash and walk him to the spot you pick him to poop on. and once you do this for awhile he will only pass there everytime, or a minimum of close to that spot! yet whilst he's long gone 7 years being waiting to pass to the bathing room everywhere you in all probability will on no account be waiting to coach him to pass in specific spots. So that's going to likely be problematical to coach him back
