Our 8 month old pug is limping and favouring her right back leg. She was fine yesterday and we noticed she was doing it after waking up from a nap last night. She is still doing it this morning and today. When she goes to sit, she doesn't sit on her feet as usual but tucks her one leg under her and lays down. We tried to call our vet but they aren't open today and said to call back tomorrow. Is there anything I can do to keep her comfortable? Any idea what it could be? Nothing seems broken and we clipped her nails thinking it was that.. nothing in her paw either. very strange.

she was limping last night.. way before we cut her nails.. we thought her nails might have been too long and she was stepping on them making it painful.. didnt work though. We are taking her to the vet in the morning. She is just resting tonight.

We have also looked up information and found lots of things about the patella's on pugs popping out because of excess weight. Our pug is 8 months old and only weighs 10lbs. She's very slim.

It could be a luxated patella (dislocated knee) which is common in pugs and many other small breeds.
These links have some good info:

Its best to rest her until you can see your vet if she is favoring the leg.
Good luck.

I have a pug too and they tend to have problems with their knee/joint area so if she injured it somehow it might not be visible. Ours, was limping around and the highest thing it ever jumped off of was a 6 inch high stair, but because they are known to have this problem it can just sometimes occur. You have to take it the vet and have it x-rayed. In the mean time I would watch what activities she does and make sure she just lays down and rests.

it was probably from clipping her nails.. if you clip off too much, it will become very sensitive

you may want to call your vet tomorrow and see what they have to say.. they may give you an anaesthetizing ointment to put on it to not only clean it up a bit, but also to help with the discomfort shes feeling

poor puppy, just let her rest tonight.. im sure she'll be fine

She may have just pulled something. Feel her leg and move it through it's regular range of motion to see if she responds like it's painful. If she does, restrict her from any unnecessary movement and take her to the vet as soon as possible.

She might have sprained it, by running around the house or by anything. If shes not better within a couple of days I would take her to the vet.

It might just be growing pains. But she might have hurt herself too.. You'll have to get the vet to check her out.

she might have popped her rear kneecap or pulled a ligament right there.Best to just let her rest and keep the roughhousing down I know its hard but theres not much else to do right now.
